: David Kuntz
I enjoy taking form and color from nature to complement my decorative and functional vessels. The use of glass enables me to expand the envelope between what occurs naturally and what I find through exploration.
David began developing his glassblowing techniques in a hot glass guild in South Florida at the University of Miami. There he was exposed to the work of numerous guest artisans and guild members in the working of glass, bronze and clay. From there he returned to Northwest Pennsylvania to begin his own glass studio.
David's current works include combining traditional forms that he sculptures with flowers and stems found in the natural world. He enjoys bending the rules of nature to incorporate ingenious color patterns and plant forms that exist only in contemporary art glass. Hot glass bits are transformed by the artist into fanciful expressions of decorative plants employing colors and forms that stretch the boundaries used by mother nature herself.
"Life is a series of efforts used to launch the mind and body into venues of creativity and display."
